Every evening as I walked the paths along the wonderful Rance River in Brittany, I was entranced by the light. Across the river lay the little port of Lyvet, at the limit of the tidal reach from the sea. The setting sun played on the buildings, the boats and their masts and the still waters, making the dance of light and colour ever-changing and utterly bewitching. It was the essence of joy for me.
