A February morning on Sapelo Island was clear and beautiful, lending this old cedar tree majesty and poise. It is probably far older than it seems, for red cedars grow slowly and live a long time along the coast of Georgia. This particular tree stands near the famed Sapelo Lighthouse, linked to the mainland by the wide Doboy Sound.
