Patterns of Spring
Triptych watercolor
22 x 7 ½"/22 x 15"/22 x 7 ½" image
When April arrives in coastal Georgia and the Azalea indica begin to bloom, I am always fascinated by their shapes and shadows. This painting evolved over time as I tried to evoke both the brilliance of petals and green of leaves. Early spring also brings out the first butterflies to feed on these flowers, something I always love to see.
