Terra Memoria II

"Terra Memoria" is an amazing 2007 composition for string quartet by the Finnish composer, Kaija Saariaho. I heard it performed in 2008 at the Savannah Music Festival by the Emerson String Quarter. The composition is dedicated "for those departed" in Ms. Saariaho's words. As I listened to the music, I was electrified by vivid images which flooded through my mind's eye. Eventually, I was able to work on a series of five silverpoint drawings, inspired by the music. This is the second drawing in the series.
