Marsh Survivor, Spring Island

As I sat quietly drawing this sinuous hollow, cedar tree, half fallen into the marshes, a beautiful rat snake emerged.  He inspected me, undulated along the trunk and quietly returned to his home in the tree's roots.  He was entirely unafraid of a human, a testimony to the good environmental stewardship of the Spring Island community.
