Balsam Mountain Beech 15 x 15" image
While I was at Balsam Mountain Preserve as a Visiting Artist, it rained a great deal during the passing of a hurricane. Consequently, I gathered these dead beech tree leaves so that I could draw them inside. They might have been “dead” but they were certainly not static. I was hard put to keep up with their twists and turns in the slow medium of silverpoint. It got to be quite a race!
